Yes, the various controversies swirling about the Lewis estate ARE rather wearying, but that's mainly because those involved with the Estate have avoided answering any of the legitimate concerns raised by Kathryn. Kathryn shouldn't be faulted for continuing to ask questions that deserve to be answered.

Ted, you (rightly) have been a stickler about other people's errors when they have claimed (wrongly) that HarperCollins plans to change the existing Chronicles of Narnia. But in your article you make the erroneous claim that the Chronicle of Higher Education decided to do its story on Hooper and The Dark Tower, et. al., because it couldn't find any additional information about the more recent controversy over secularizing of C.S. Lewis. However, I understand from Kathryn that the Chronicle story has been in the works for some time--even before the recent debate sparked by Carol Hatcher's problems. I believe that the Chronicle story originated with Kathryn's publisher contacting the Chronicle about Kathryn's new book. So the secularization of Narnia was not the real story the Chronicle was pursuing, contrary to your account.

In the interest of accuracy, will you post a correction on the Christianity Today website correcting your false statement of fact?
